The action bar, introduced in Honeycomb (API 11), replaces the older menu-style navigation. The action bar is strategically located at the top of the screen to support navigation and give users access to important functionality. It also helps provide an anchor point in your application and can be used for branding. The action bar is commonly used for actions such as search, refresh, or share. The good news is that the action bar is backward compatible with the older menu.
