So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Using Notifications
To keep users informed about application events, you can use the notification system. These notifications show up in the status bar, and users can expand the notification bar and select the notification. When they select the notification, they can trigger another activity.
A simple notification consists of the following:
An icon
A notification title (or name) and a message
A timestamp
A secondary application icon
