The transform map acts as a link between the columns in the import set table and the target (destination) table. The target table may have more or fewer columns compared to the columns in the import set table. Depending on the source CSV file we used, the columns of the import set table may not always have corresponding columns with matching names in the target table.
The transform map can either be created manually using the map assist tool or else using the automap matching fields feature that relies on matching column names. As a part of this book, we will use the manual process to create the transform map to better understand the features available for mapping fields using the transform map assist tool.
