So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Installing the AD DS and DNS roles, and promoting the server to a DC
To install the AD DS role in Windows Server 2019, complete the following steps:
- Click the Start button, and then, in the Start menu, click the Server Manager tile.
- In the Server Manager window, in the WELCOME TO SERVER MANAGER section, click Add roles and features, as shown in Figure 5.27:

- With the Add Roles and Features Wizard open, click Next.
- Select the Role-based or feature-based installation option and click Next.
- With the Select a server from the server pool option checked, click Next.
