To overcome the limitations of the basic disk, to be able to increase read-and-write performance with disk striping, and to operate with volumes instead of partitions, dynamic disk configuration was introduced. This means that volumes in dynamic disk configuration can be extended to more than one physical disk, thus allowing us to create five types of volumes: simple, mirrored, striped, spanned, and RAID-5 volumes.
In Windows Server 2019, to convert a basic disk into a dynamic disk, complete the following steps:
