In order to facilitate the administration of virtual environments, Hyper-V offers a variety of options and capabilities. These include checkpoints (formerly snapshots). Checkpoints are also called the Hyper-V's restore point. Whenever you want to install a new app on your VM and want to avoid unwanted post-installation situations, the checkpoint option is available to you. This option allows you to make a copy of the disk image at a specific time so that, when unexpected situations occur, you can revert your VM to a previous state. However, checkpoints are not recommended for production use, and only for development and test environments.
