So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Understanding the PDS role
PDS is a service that enables centralized printing on the network. Obviously, as its name indicates, PDS offers more than just the network printing service. It also provides the service for document scanning. With scanning service, users receive scanned documents from the network scanner and send them to the network shared resources. Usually, PDS is added as a role in Windows Server 2019 as in Figure 6.20.
Hence, to set up a print server in Windows Server 2019, select the Print and Document Services role and add Print Server role services:
