I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Updating non-Microsoft programs
For the most part, on Windows-based servers, Windows Update is responsible for updating Microsoft OSes, applications, and utilities. Earlier in this chapter, we explained that software from vendors other than Microsoft is unique in the way that it is updated. Now, we will show you how to update a third-party application (such as Adobe Reader X) on Windows Server 2019. The steps are as follows:
- Open Adobe Reader from the Start menu.
- In the Help menu, select Check for Updates....
- Shortly afterward, Adobe Reader Updater displays a message stating that an update is available for download.
- Click on the Download button.
- The icon in the System Tray silently downloads the update.
