is chapter is designed to introduce techniques that probe the
vibrational properties of molecules’ chemical bonds: Raman
scattering and mid-infrared (MIR) absorption. e greatest
strength of these techniques is that they are intrinsically highly
chemically specic, compared to other spectroscopies such as
