19.1 Introduction
In this chapter, we discuss the principles of diuse optical
tomography (DOT) imaging using continuous wave (CW) and
frequency domain (FD) measurement systems. Section 19.2
describes the instruments and imaging congurations com-
monly used for acquiring CW and FD data. e numerical
approaches to transforming the measured data into meaning-
ful images in tissue are also discussed in Section 19.2, and the
importance of resolving the spectral content of the reemitted
light to extract physiologically relevant parameters is described.
