9.3 CHARACTERISTICS OF SOFT COMPUTING

The characteristics of soft computing systems are discussed in the following

sections.

9.3.1 Simulation of Human Expertise

Soft computing systems use fuzzy logic, which offers a ﬂexible approach

to dealing with the human-like classiﬁcation of things into groups whose

boundaries are vague, with the notion of fuzzy linguistic variables, such as

large car, hot season, and rich person. Fuzzy inference also provides approxi-

mate reasoning and explanations.

Another important advantage that an artiﬁcial neural network offers is
