Here, the type and structure of indexes is determined. This is actually a

knowledge acquisition problem, and should be analyzed as part of the do-

main knowledge analysis and modeling step. A trivial solution to the prob-

lem is to use all input features as indexes. This is a syntax-based method. In

a memory-based method, relevant features are determined by matching all

the cases in the case base and ﬁltering out features that belong to cases that

have few features in common with the problem case.
