tical use. Given the sheer size and distributed nature of the Semantic Web,

these requirements impose additional challenges beyond those addressed by

earlier knowledge-based systems.

Wider recognition of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) recom-

mendations, such as RDF and OWL, has led to modern tools and products

from both emerging and mainstream industries (Akerkar, 2009). As semantic

technologies prove their value with targeted applications, opportunities to
