3.1 Nature of KNowledge-Based systems

Knowledge-based systems (KBS) are quite different from other computer-

based information systems, such as Transaction Processing Systems (TPS), Man-

agement Information Systems (MIS), and Decision Support Systems (DSS).

Knowledge-based systems deal with knowledge and work at an unstructured

level. They can justify their decisions and have the ability to learn. This is the

main reason why a knowledge-based system must be conceived and developed
