9.6 NEURO-GENETIC SYSTEMS

Neuro-genetic systems are able to learn and evolve simultaneously. The neu-

ral network constituent enables the system to store knowledge in the connec-

tions and evolve its structure. Such connectionist-based systems evolve their

structure and functionality in a continuous, self-organized, online, adaptive,

and interactive way based on the input training data. Generally, these systems

facilitate dealing with different types of knowledge, such as memory-based,
