2.11.6 Planning
A plan is a program of actions that can be carried out to achieve goals by
satisfying certain environmental constraints. Such a plan helps in using scarce
resources in an effective way by presenting a sequence of actions to be per-
formed. For example, the manufacturing and service division requires good
designs and planning solutions to guarantee success. Activities related to soft-
ware development also require creating plan and monitoring phases. The
knowledge-based system also allows little deviation from the plan. The de-
gree of such deviation without disturbing the overall objective is determined
by the knowledge-based system. The same is also applicable to design.
