- Find the 8-bit hexadecimal value for a color from an image?
Open the image with Preview (
/Applications)→launch DigitalColor Meter (in/Applications/Utilities)→select “RGB As Hex Value, 8-bit” from the pull-down menu→move the mouse pointer over an area in the image →Shift-

Follow these steps:
Launch the ColorSync Utility (
/Applications/Utilities).Click on the Filters button in the toolbar.
In the Filters list (left column) select Gray Tone.
Click on the “View file with Filter...” button.
Select a PDF document to open.
A Preview window opens with the PDF document in view; in that window:
Select Gray Tone in the Filters list on the left.
