Synopsis
- Force quit an application that’s stuck?
Option-
-Escape opens
a window showing all of the running applications. Select the
troublesome application, and click the Force Quit button.Option-click the application’s icon in the Dock, and select Force Quit from the context menu.
Activity Monitor (
/Applications/Utilities)→select the process that’s causing the problem→click on the Quit Process button in the toolbar→select Quit or Force Quit from the alert window- Restart my computer automatically after a power failure?
System Preferences→Energy Saver→Options→select the checkbox next to “Restart automatically after a power failure”
- Where are crash logs kept?
~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter- Fix a disk that won’t mount?
Disk Utility (
/Applications/Utilities)→select the disk that won’t mount→First Aid→Verify Disk Permissions; after Verify has run, click on the Repair Disk Permissions button if prompted- Restart my system when it has completely frozen?
Hold down the Shift-Option-
keys, and press the
