It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Loads disk images, attaches them to device nodes (files in
/dev), and signals Disk Arbitration to mount
them into the directory hierarchy.
hdid is a synonym for hdiutil
-attach and takes the same set of options and
