It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

the wires are firmly attached. (I highly recommend, as a practice, using a
red wire for the positive side of the adapter and a black or brown wire for the
negative side, but the color technically doesn’t matter.)
STEP 2
Plug the red (positive) wire attached to the barrel jack adapter into the
bottom of the positive rail on your breadboard (the red row) and the black
or brown (negative) wire into the bottom of the ground rail (the blue row)
