It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The State of XML
Now that I've put XML into perspective and showed you the basics of XML syntax, I want to get you up to speed on the state of XML as of this writing. Clearly, all the theoretical benefits of XML won't add up to much if the software doesn't exist to bring them to fruition. So, even though other parts of the book may present emerging features and applications of XML, first I want to clue you in on what can be done as you're reading this. The remainder of this chapter will look at XML from the perspective of using it today.
