Microsoft Internet Explorer
Although Microsoft has taken some heat for its inconsistent support for XML in Internet Explorer 5.0, you have to give it some credit for being the first vendor to release a commercial browser with XML support. The main problem with Internet Explorer's support for XML has to do with Microsoft's proprietary approach to dealing with some XML issues. For example, when Internet Explorer was released, XSL was still in the working draft stage at the W3C. However, Microsoft went ahead and included support for a slightly modified version of the XSL working draft, without worrying about the potentially negative effects of developers basing code on a technology that had yet to become an official standard.
