Summary
This chapter tried to paint an accurate picture of the state of XML in Web browsers—mostly fact, partly opinion. To be honest, in assessing the practical realities of the XML support in the current crop of Web browsers, it was difficult to balance the marketing hype from Web browser vendors with tales from the development trenches. However, I think I managed to give you a good glimpse of what you can do with XML in present browsers, along with what is coming up just around the corner.
In all fairness, browser support is still perhaps the most volatile area of XML. This is a shame, because it's also the area that's the most critical to XML being accepted and widely used. Even though there have been lots of criticisms of the big browser ...
