It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Remote Data Services and DSOs
For the record, here is a breakdown of the various types of DSOs available. The simplest DSO is the TDC DSO, and I will go over how to use it a little later in "Understanding the Tabular Data Control (TDC)." Once you understand the TDC DSO, you will learn how to use the XML DSO.
The Tabular Data Control (TDC)
The TDC is a simple DSO that provides access to delimited text files. This is the most basic of the DSOs. The following are reasons that you might want to use the TDC DSO:
You have a simple data set to display, and it does not warrant wrapping the data in XML.
