As you know, the Web is a massive collection of linked documents. Without links, documents on the Web would be islands of unconnected information. Clearly, links have played a critical role in the success of the Web. Surprisingly, not too many people have questioned the linking capabilities of the Web, even though practically every other facet of the Web has undergone huge evolutionary changes. XML provides a good opportunity to rethink linking on the Web and possibly expand it to reach an entirely new level of document connectivity.
