How it works...

You can use the Active Directory Administrative Center, command line, and/or Windows PowerShell to create OUs. When you create them this way, OUs are automatically protected from accidental deletion.

Creating OUs using the Active Directory Administrative Center allows for more overview of the creation process, but is not very scalable. You wouldn't use it to create 1,000 OUs, for instance. The command line and Windows PowerShell are more suited for these scenarios. The PowerShell History Viewer feature might help you out when discovering the Windows PowerShell cmdlets to get the latter process going.

When you create an OU, the Name attribute is the only required attribute to specify.
