Apple Service Diagnostic
Like Apple Hardware Test, Apple Service Diagnostic (ASD) works within Open Firmware to perform low-level hardware tests. However, it is designed specifically for Mac models incapable of booting into Mac OS 9. It was first introduced in June 2002 for use with Xserve systems. Apple later released ASD for 2003 models of PowerBook, iMac, Power Mac, and Xserve (Slot Load) systems. Make sure you are using the version of ASD that corresponds to the Mac model you want to test.
