Whether you are adding memory or an AirPort Extreme Card to your iMac G5, the first step is to remove the back cover of the computer. Be sure to follow the ESD guidelines spelled out in Lesson 4, “Safe Working Procedures and General Maintenance.”
1. | Turn off the computer by choosing Shut Down from the Apple menu. |
2. | Disconnect all cables and unplug the power cord from the computer.
NOTE You must unplug the AC power cord to prevent the iMac from turning on during the upgrade procedure. |
