It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

休日の価値
オフの時間は貴重である。ホームホストへのアクセス、ファイル不正転送、他の疑わしい活
動を特定したい場合には、オフ時間を観察する。トラフィックが少なく、人も少ないので、会
社の内部的な24時間リズムを知らない誰かを見つけるには、大勢の中に隠れているときより
も、オフの期間中の方が簡単なのだ。
この現象は部内者、特にショルダーサーフィン（肩越しにのぞき見てパスワードなどを盗み
見る）や物理的な監視を心配する人に対処する際にも有効だ。彼らは周りの人から怪しまれな
いために夜や週末に活動するが、トラフィックログにははっきりと残る。
これが会社固有のオフ時間を把握しておく理由である。月曜から金曜の9時から5 時の間に
だけ活動するようにすれば、トラフィックを隠すことができるが、聖スウィジンの日は会社が
休みであることを知らなければ目立ってしまう。
ボリューム分析では業務プロセスが偽陽性の原因となることが多い。例
えば、特定のサーバへの
トラフィックが隔週で突然急増する企業サイトがあった。隔週金曜に全従業員が会社の給与処理を
行うサーバをチェックし、それ以外にアクセスされることはない。毎週、隔週、または30日の倍数
で現れる現象は、業務特有のプロセスに関連したものだろう。今後の参考のために特定しておこう。
