Preparing an Image to Be Scanned
Scanners today are fantastic. They can scan at higher resolutions and capture a greater range of colors than scanners made only a few years ago. Regardless of how good they are, many scanned images don't look as good as they should simply because the image or the scanner wasn't properly prepared before scanning. In the sections to follow, you will discover the simple but necessary steps to prepare an image to be scanned and also ways to evaluate the completed scan.

The procedures for preparing the scanner and the images to be scanned are simple and require common household items. Keep these tools near your scanner, so you won't be tempted to skip the “prep work” before scanning:
