Creating Contrast in a Color Channel

As stated near the beginning of this chapter, any movement of the curve toward a vertical angle adds contrast. Normally, we think of adding contrast to the entire image, the RGB channel.

When contrast is created in a color channel, however, the most obvious effect is an increase in detail in the object(s) of that particular color. This increased detail is especially helpful when the object contains many shades of red, green, or blue, as in the following sample image.
