Scanning an Image into Photoshop

Now that you are ready to scan, launch Photoshop and choose File, Import. Select the scanner from the menu that appears. Some scanners might have a button that you can press to launch the scanning software.

Tip

Avoid the WIA When you start a scanner from within Photoshop on the Windows XP platform, avoid using the WIA interface if you can. This primitive tool does not use many of the scanner features and therefore will not produce the best possible scanning results.

Regardless of which method you use, the actual scanning process is pretty much universal. The following sections describe the basic steps of any scanning process.
