So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Not to Forget PNG!
To wrap up our roundup of Web file formats, it's only fair that we devote a little space here to a sparsely used but robust file format: the Portable Network Graphic (or PNG). PNG is a gift to the graphics world; its runtime is free, and you'll never be charged a license for using it. It was created as a response to the GIF file format licensing I mentioned earlier.
About the only bad news about PNG is that it is not supported by the major browsers. This may change in time. In the meantime, PNG is a wonderful, lossless format that can be used as an interchange between programs that understand PNG, for swapping and working with alpha channels.
