sortation centers that sort packages into zip code order for faster delivery by the U.S.
Postal Service. As of mid-2014, they have seven sortation centers and plan additional
ones to further support their fulllment centers (Wulfraat 2014).
For Christmas, 2013, Amazon experienced delays in deliveries promised for
Christmas, when the orders overwhelmed the capacities of the primary package carri-
ers, UPS and FedEx. While the delayed deliveries represented a very small percentage
