Serenely, majestically, and with almost mathematic precision we hear a section of Bach’s the Goldberg Variations projecting from a small cassette player inside of the high-security prison cell of psychopath murderer Dr. Hannibal Lecter as he executes his escape. You can almost see the serial killer’s mind work as he calculates each step of deceiving the guards who are bringing his meal to him while taking every precaution to prevent what is about to happen. Bach’s music is the perfect accompaniment in spite of the brutal violence that follows.
