Turandot was incomplete at the time of Puccini’s death, and was later finished by Franco Alfano. Based on Carlo Gozzi’s commedia dell’arte Turandot, the Italian libretto was written by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni. The opera is best known for the tenor aria “Nessun dorma” (“Nobody shall sleep”).
