You may think you know what a march is, with lots of brass and drums blasting to keep your feet moving in time with the sergeant as you wish you were back in bed. At least that’s how I remember my time in marching band. But the march actually has its own form, thanks to the consistency of composers like John Philip Sousa and Henry Fillmore.
