So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The Woodwind Section
A LARGE FAMILY WITH DISTINCTIVE VOICES
From the agility of the flute to the vocal quality of the oboe to the rich tones of the clarinet and bassoon, the instruments of the woodwind section combine to form the most versatile section in the orchestra. It is a favorite of composers to draw upon for poignant solos and melody lines.
During Bach’s lifetime the section would have consisted of recorders, oboes, and bassoons, all wood instruments. By the time Mozart finished composing, the metal transverse flute and the newly invented clarinet had become part of the section.
