Installing Software

After you’ve run through this checklist, you’re ready to install the program. Here’s a summary of the various methods you can use to install a program in Windows 8:

AutoPlay install—If the program comes on a disc or drive that supports AutoPlay, you’ll see a notification like the one shown in Figure 27.3. Click the notification to see a list of tasks you can run (see Figure 27.4) and then click Run SETUP.EXE (or whatever Windows has determined is the name of the install executable files).
