Pros and Cons of PFW
There are both advantages and disadvantages to building a lifetime career as a stabilizer in a single organization. Those who join companies with PFW intentions usually compete with those inside the company for better positions. They need not worry so much about outsiders who might be hired to fill positions to which they aspire. Theoretically, everyone has a chance to compete, despite differences in education and experience. When someone at the top retires, a chain reaction can open up many positions all the way down the organizational ladder. Several position openings, of course, are possible only if reorganization does not take place or certain positions are not eliminated.
