You have a difficult choice. The older, Theory X supervisor might give you the following advantages: (1) he has been with the company longer and has had more experience, so he might be able to teach you more; and (2) although he may demand more from you, in the long run you might be a stronger person and eventually a better supervisor yourself because of it.
If you choose the younger, Theory Y supervisor, you might enjoy the following advantages: (1) you would probably become more involved under her leadership and, as a result, more productive; and (2) this supervisor would probably move up the management ladder sooner.
