3.1 Planning for Quality
3.1.1 The Product Creation Cycle
The scheme of activities that are performed from the time a product is
conceived to the time the product is made and delivered to the customer
can be described as a product creation cycle� Such a scheme, adapted from
the “quality planning timing chart” described in the Reference Manual of
Advanced Product Quality Planning and Control Plan, published jointly by the
big three automakers (Chrysler LLC, Ford Motor Company, and General
Motors Corporation 2008a), is presented in Figure 3�1� The modern approach
