in Table 3.3. In this table, Column 3 gives the frequency distribution of failures

in each interval, and Column 6 gives the failure rate at the instant following each

interval. While the numbers in Column 3 are the proportion that fail in each inter-

val out of the original sample of 1000, the numbers in Column 6 represent the

proportion of those that survive past the interval, failing in the instant (month)
