Five stages of the Conflict Process are connected with each other from left to right. Stage one is labeled Potential opposition or incompatibility. This stage identifies three Antecedent conditions:

- Felt Conflict
The two parts of Stage two lead to Stage three, Intentions. It displays five conflict-handling intentions as:

Accommodating
Stage three points to Stage four, Behavior. It identifies two types of behavior in an Overt Conflict as:
