Cloud Spanner is one of the more expensive products in the Google Cloud Platform catalog. Prices range from $2.70 to $28 an hour for a minimal three-node, production-ready instance, not including the cost of storage. This will likely be a major factor when evaluating Cloud Spanner as a database solution. For many mission-critical applications, the cost will be easily justifiable. For applications that can tolerate downtime, eventual consistency, or limited scalability, another option might be a better fit.
