When the conditions of an alerting policy are met, Stackdriver will create a new incident for the given policy violation. Incidents provide a convenient way to track policy violations, including which violations are currently active, the frequency and state of violations, incident durations, and team comments. We can use this information to coordinate efforts and track performance over time.
