Custom images
In addition to public and third-party images, Compute Engine offers support for creating and managing custom images. Custom images are project-level resources, allowing teams to maintain private images that can be heavily configured for specific use cases. There are a few ways to create custom images, including generation from a persistent disk, copying an existing image, and importing images in RAW format. The process of preparing and importing images in RAW format is heavily involved and excluded from this section for brevity.
