Multi-region configurations
Multi-region configurations replicate resources across multiple regions, allowing for availability in the event of a full regional outage. This allows multi-region configurations to offer a higher SLA than regional configurations, at 99.999% availability. At the time of writing, Cloud Spanner offers two multi-region configurations: nam3 and nam-eur-asia1.
Both multi-region configurations have a default leader region and an additional read-write region. Whereas regional configurations replicate data across three zones, multi-region configurations replicate data across four zones - two in the default leader region and two in the additional read-write region.
