So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
What’s New in Managing Linked Servers
With SQL Server 2014, there are no significant changes to the linked servers’ capabilities. Of the few changes for linked servers, the following are the most significant:
Remote servers are officially deprecated, and this means system stored procedures such as sp_addserver, sp_remoteoption, sp_helpremotelogin, and sp_addremotelogin are gone.
System variable @@REMSERVER and server-wide settings such as SET REMOTE_PROC_TRANSACTIONS are also gone.
