It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
What’s New in Database Design and Performance
Many of the database design and performance considerations that applied to previous versions of SQL Server still apply to SQL Server 2014. These principles are basic in nature and are not affected by the version of the database management system. This chapter focuses on those relatively unchanged principles.
There is, however, a new section in this chapter that focuses on running SQL Server in a virtual environment.
